H&M and Wal-Mart destroy and trash unsold goods instead of donating them to the poor and needy.

You see, instead of taking unsold items to sample sales or donating them to people in need, H&M and Wal-Mart have been throwing them out in giant trash bags. And in the case that someone may stumble on these bags and try to keep or re-sell the items, these companies have gone ahead and slashed up garments, cut off the sleeves of coats, and sliced holes in shoes so they are unwearable.

378 million in donations in the U.S., an increase from the $296 million given the prior year. Few other businesses are as philanthropic as Walmart. Don't like the store, don't shop there. Your loss.|||Those are "Evil Empires". Since the death of Wal-Mart's Founder, things have gone in the wrong direction. Greed has taken over. It is sad to report that a large percentage of Wal-Mart Employees qualify for Food Stamps while the Head Hanchos walk away with Millions each and every year. Now, that tells us something.

To destroy ANYTHING that could be used by someone needy is a Crime. I have changed my buying habits drastically. I support as much as possible all little Shops. I may initially pay a little more but in the long run I save a lot. These Shops do not fill their shelves with things I do not need.|||No; perhaps at the local managers who made the decision. Wal-Mart has stated that their policy is and has been to donate such items to charity and H&M, after a delay inwhich they were likely studying the issue, has stated that it will never happen again there or at any other location.|||That command came from the highest corporate office.
Maybe someone there will explain their reasoning.

If no reason will be given by a certain time- say end of January
then there can be something the walmart employees can explain in a press conference to explain the reason to the suffering people.

such as
" we only want you in good times
In bad times, you are on your own"
signed walmart management and employees.

destruction of perfectly useable merchandise = karmic debt incurred.|||These companies' actions are sick for more than ethical reasons. Most corporations donate for the tax deduction they get for donating. If the stuff's going to the poor, they can't be thinking that by donating it, they'll be loosing sales.|||It's a legal thing. They ask the company the products came from if they want to pick up the materials, or donate/destroy them. They do what they are told|||I let our readers know about this today too, its sickening I am not shopping the the greedy bas....ds anymore, as with my daughter, girlfriend and neighbor.|||Hate Wal*Mart. I like Target and Forever 21 better than H&M and Wal*Mart.|||That's really mean, no excuse for that|||yeah, what they did was so selfish|||Wal-Mart is evil. Remember back in the eighties, when Wal-Mart was all about "buy American", well not anymore. The company outsources manufacturing jobs to China so they can slash their prices. When smaller business can't match the low Wal-Mart price they have no choice in a lot of cases but to go out of business. So the small company goes out of business, workers are laid off and where do they go? The go work at Wal-Mart where they get no benefits. Wal-Mart also happens to be the largest employer in the world, yes, in the world. The company makes billions of dollars every year but they will not give their employees health benefits.

So, it doesn't surprise me that they would slash up garments or shoes so that no one else can have them. That's the way Wal-Mart does business. The citizens of Portland Oregon wont even let Wal-Mart open a store in their town because they're afraid of what it might do to local businesses, but most Americans are just happy as can be to go spend their money in a store owned by a corporation that is contributing to the downfall of our country, all because it costs a few pennies less.

Seriously, don't shop at Wal-Mart. Even if you have to pay a little more it's worth it not to support f*&^% Wal-Mart
