sample sales: How can I find out the dates/times and locations of various sample sales? Do wedding gown dress sample sales happen once or twice a year? What height are the sample wedding gowns cut for? (Time is not an issue - wedding is more than a year away.) Any additional comments or pointers would be greatly appreciated!|||It is complete up the bridal shop. in my experience its usually fall and/or spring, right before the new collections show up. Dresses at designer bridal shops are usually size 10, for a women 5'7 to 5'10. Most of the good bridal shops have websites... check the websites for sample sales. Dont call, they wont tell you when they are having them... they want you to come in and buy the expensive dress... not the discontinued sale items.|||where do you live, start with bridal shops in your area. you may not need to wait for a sample sale, just check for other sales, My dress was 300.00 instead of 800.00 because the bridal shop changed ownership and the new owner did not carry that brand of gown in the new store, they had about 20 for 1/2 price or less but only one perfect for me. good luck plus some resale wedding shops have store samples, i tried on seven in one resale wedding shop they were all new. try on line for places and style and shop, i only had two weeks in the city so I went to two or three places a day and took picture (and stuck to the 500.00 budget) congrats, good luck|||Look on e-bay. Super prices, and pretty cheap shipping. You can get the dress and shipping for under $100 if you're careful.|||You may want to stay away from sample wedding gowns as these are not always made with the best of fabric and have been tried on so many times that they may fall apart just getting looked at again. Besides all of the above, the sizes vary so much that you will never know what size you really are. Wedding gown sizes are not the same as a dress size. You may end up in a size 14 when you wear an size 8. Don't laugh, if you have ever seen a wedding gown made, or have taken one apart you would understand where I'm coming from.
